by Noelle Raemer· August 05, 2015· in Cosplay Spotlight· 0 comments tags: B-boy T-Stunna, Spider-man, TstunningSpidey, Tyler Scott Hoover
One of the features we do here at Comic Impact is the monthly Cosplay Spotlight. The idea is to showcase people from every facet of this wonderful world of fandom we call, “Cosplay.” We believe in the fun of dressing up and want everyone who plays a part to be recognized. What is your name? My name is Tyler Scott Hoover but I go by a cosplaying nickname called TstunningSpidey (short for “The Stunning Spider-Man”) as well as my dancer alias B-boy T-Stunna. How many years of experience do you have and what got you into cosplay? Well as far as dressing up for fun and entertaining folks I’ve been cosplaying in that sense for as long as I can remember. I would make short films with my sister as a kid or with my friends. Wearing costumes to school was always fun. In terms of going to conventions I’ve been in the scene since the summer of 2013. What character/design are you most well known for? My most respected and well known cosplay is definitely Spider-Man. I cosplay in the numerous variations and attires of the Web-slinger such as his classic red & blue, Synbiote, Ben Reilly Sensational Spidey, […]

One of the features we do here at Comic Impact is the monthly Cosplay Spotlight. The idea is to showcase people from every facet of this wonderful world of fandom we call, “Cosplay.” We believe in the fun of dressing up and want everyone who plays a part to be recognized. What is your name? My name is Jesse Fresco, but I have a facebook page called HARD Corps Bloodshot. How many years of experience do you have and what got you into cosplay? I’ve been cosplaying since September 2013. I got into cosplay simply due to my love of the character Bloodshot from Valiant. What character/design are you most well known for? I’m most well known for Bloodshot. As far as I know, I’m one of maybe two or three other people that has done that character, and the only one that has done the character at a convention. My favorite character design is of course Bloodshot, though I did enjoying doing Rai last year at NYCC 2014. That has a similar look but is much more complicated due to the Rising Sun flag on the chest. Did you know how to sew/fabricate before you started cosplaying? I didn’t […]

Denver Comic Con 2015: Highlights

by Noelle Raemer· May 29, 2015· in Events· 0 comments tags: Amanda Connor, Ben Templesmith, BOOM! Studios, DC Comics, Denver Comic Con, Denver Comic Con 2015, Garth Ennis, Jimmy Palmiotti, Kieron Gillen, Neal Adams, Oni Press, Tim Sale, Valiant, Zenoscope
Another Denver Comic Con has come and gone, this time, over the Memorial Day weekend. In only its fourth year, DCC had 101,500 attendees, up from 86,500 last year. To help make this possible, they rented some 500,000 square feet of the Convention Center — an increase of 20,000 square feet over last year, and just shy of the entire building. Even with an increase of size and numbers, the flow of traffic was handled well and congestion was kept to a minimum in comparison to other comparable conventions I’ve been to. The staff is still some of the friendliest I’ve dealt with and never seemed to get frustrated dealing with all the attendees.

What is your name? Johnny Quest Cosplay aka John Quade How many years of experience do you have and what got you into cosplay? This is my second year in cosplay. My first con that I went to was C2E2 2013. I had been making Halloween costumes and things to wear for many years but never knew about cosplay. I decided that year to wear a shredder costume I made one day and the next day a flash costume. After being asked to take pictures with so many different people and seeing the joy in so many kids eyes I was hooked and never looked back. What character/design are you most well known for? I think I am most known for my Incredible Hulk costume that I competed in last years C2E2 Crown championship of Cosplay. Another I am pretty known for is Shredder from the new TMNT movie. […]

WonderCon 2015: Highlights

by Noelle Raemer· April 08, 2015· in Events· 0 comments
Along with the panels and special guests, a big part of the fun of any big comic book convention is the fans. Many attendees travel from all over the globe to visit these conventions to express their passions, meet people from all over with similar interests, and dressing up as their favorite characters. The annually-held WonderCon kick off down in Anaheim, California, seemed a little light on the floor this Easter weekend, but that didn’t stop the many fans who came dressed up as someone from their favorite movie, television show, or comic book from all the photographers and photoshoots taking place outside of the con doors. I spent most of my time indoors, but I was still able to snap pics of some of the great costumes.

Emerald City Comicon 2015: Highlights

by Noelle Raemer· April 01, 2015· in Events· 0 comments
Emerald City Comicon is the Northwest’s premiere pop culture convention. It keeps most of its focus around comics and is said that the founder wanted to model it around the East-coast’s successful Heroes Con. I have been every year since 2012 and I have to say that it does an excellent job melding worlds together and making it a con with something for everyone. I don’t typically go to any conventions for its TV or film presence, so ECCC is my favorite con of the year because of the comic talent it brings in. That being said, this is the first year that I did take advantage of the celebrity photo ops and autograph area to meet Hayley Atwell.

Did you know how to sew/fabricate before you started cosplaying? Barely. I only knew how to handsew since I was 5 years old due to the fact that I’d watch the women in my family do it as a child. Dragon*Con 2014: Highlights

by Noelle Raemer· September 04, 2014· in Events· 0 comments
Downtown Atlanta played host to another year of Dragon*Con this past Labor Day weekend as the nerds and costumed fans came out in droves. The wonderful Media Relations for the con personally extended an invitation to the offices of Comic Impact and I was more than happy to act as the company representative. The Press badge pickup was located at a separate hotel and the process was quite simple and took place without any hiccups. I then accompanied my friend to her location to pick up her weekend badge and the pathways were easily marked and we were in and out in a matter of 20 minutes. Granted, we got there a bit after badge pickup started.

Cosplay Spotlight: Stoosh

One of the features we do here at Comic Impact is the monthly Cosplay Spotlight. The idea is to showcase people from every facet of this wonderful world of fandom we call, “Cosplay.” We believe in the fun of dressing up and want everyone who plays a part to be recognized. What is your name?  Stoosh How many years of experience do you have and what got you into cosplay?  Only 2!  But I’ve always loved Halloween for the reason that I could dress-up in crazy costumes.  Some of my costumes were pretty epic, my mom used to make them when I was little.  I got into cosplay because I was going to my first ever event (Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo in 2012) and my buddy and I wanted to go full out and dress-up, it took off from there. What character/design are you most well known for?  Definitely my Skeletor!  It’s the Filmation version so it’s pretty bare-bones (pun intended), and a lot of people in their twenties and thirties totally dig it.  Although, I’ve been getting some action on my Commander Shepard blood dragon armor from Mass Effect lately. Which is your favorite character/design?  The favorite character/design […]
