I think was the only person in the world who hadn’t seen the new Iron Man 3 trailer till last night- and I’ll be honest- I was a bit skeptical as to how good it was going to be… go ahead, shake your head at me, I feel like a complete idiot now. Woah! Sorry for the delay amigos and amigas! AN APE KIDNAPPED ME AND FLEW ME TO SAN FRAN! Alternative Press Expo was a blast this weekend! For any of you who have never been, or don’t know what it is- LEMME INFORM YA’LLS. APE is a mini convention with big energy. Imagine a con that is 99% artist alley. Its full of underground, independent artists peddling amazingly raw art and comics. There are a slew of already established artist, but for the most part its people that you’ve definitely never heard of – which is a damn shame! The price to get in this year was TEN DOLLHAIRS (10$), or fifteen for both Saturday and Sunday. Yes it was a two day con. Do you really need more? Oh did you go to San Diego Comic Con this year? Well guess what – you could have gotten in FREE (with your old badge), I bet you feel like a dummy now huh? I noticed that a lot people had free goodies to give out, and while the goodies might have been xerox pages of a sample comic, the comics you were getting were pretty amazing.

Remember in the 90’s, when the comic gods were birthing new characters and stories faster than we could consume them? I miss those days. I miss the ammo pouches and 36 gun holsters on an eight foot tall, roided out, blonde vigilante chick. I miss the holofoil covers. Okay I’m lying, I miss those days as much as I miss going to a video store to rent Judge Dredd for SNES only to find out it’s been rented already. I take it back- the holofoil covers… those need to come back. ASAP. But really, Marvel… DC… where’s the new BLOOD? I appreciate that they’re putting all these great writers and artists together to make magic happen, but wouldn’t it be so much nicer if we could make NEW magic? I knew that somehow, some way I was going to make a Bane comic but I wasn’t entirely sure how. It came pretty simply enough though when my DnD group and I kept saying different movie lines in Bane’s voice, along with that speech, pretty much all night every time we get together since the movie came out.I have since then have begun to integrate that speech into my everyday life, which may or may not have got out of hand after the line, “You merely adopted pooping in the litter box; I was born in it, moulded by it” was uttered to my cat earlier today. So the debate on who’s right in the great Avengers vs. X-Men run is still running hot here at Comic Impact. Pat prefers to go with the X-Men and Simon with the Avengers, personally I’m more a sit back and wait for the whole thing to blow over kind of guy.Though I do have to say that seeing Spider-Man getting beaten to a bloody pulp in the last issue was terribly heartbreaking.
