Sup ‘net! We’re heading down the final stretch of Secret Wars tie-ins. And they wrap up, we’re seeing some serious disappointing endings and outings. (The disappointment of the week will surprise you. Especially coming from me!) But there is also a particularly green title that turned out to be different than what it originally seemed! One of my favorite comic creative teams takes 2 of the top spots. The #1 pick this week doesn’t fight fair in the least. And I’ll tell you about the best Image title you’re not checking out. PRESS PLAY!

Antonio’s Top 5 Comics of the Week – 02.06.2013

by Antonio Cuneo· February 11, 2013· in Antonio’s Top 5· 0 comments tags: Alex Maleev, Andy DIggle, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, Edgar Delgado, Frank S’Armata, Icon, Image, Jason Latour, Jock, Jonathan Hickman, Marvel, New Avengers, Nic Klein, Rick Magyar, Ryan Stegman, Scarlet, Snapshot, Steve Epting, The Superior Spider-Man, Winter Soldier
1. Scarlet #6 by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev [Icon] Though this was my number one pick of the week I decided to write about it last because of a very personal connection I have to this book. I just wanted to put that out there and I also want to say that comic books, like any other medium are suppose to make you feel something, something besides enjoyment. I feel connected with characters, especially the ones that I really love that’s why I love Batman and Spider-Man so much. Anyway I’m going to talk about the comic first and what happens in the issue and then I’ll talk about my connection and why it means so much to me and why I felt the way I did. When Bendis launched this book last year with Alex Maleev I was excited because this book was very different from what Bendis was doing on his Marvel work at the time, and when this launched it was a breath of fresh air in his writing, not to say that he lost anything, I have and always will be a Bendis fan. But to have him work on creator owned stuff was exciting. And though this comic had big ideas and big […]

Pick of the Week: February 23rd 2011 – Amazing Spider-Man #655

by bucky· March 02, 2011· in Pick of the Week, Podcast, Reviews· 0 comments tags: Amazing Spider-Man, Dan Slott, Marcos Martin, Marvel, Marvel Comics
Oh, man! Finally, it’s time for another POW, Pick Of the Week Podcast! I know you couldn’t hold your anticipation much longer, and you’re a real trooper for toughing it out. Good job! Ian has the pick this week and he went with Amazing Spider-Man #655. Unfortunately, Simon, Ken and Sheldon couldn’t disagree more. The podcast reaches riotous proportions as the group lets Ian know what a dumbass he is for such an irresponsible pick. He may be fired. Simon also starts to realize that he’s more of a fan of 1990’s comics than he thought, Sheldon is going to follow Bucky to Russia to help him fight bears and Ken can’t find his cat. It’s a show for the ages, my friend! Don’t listen at your own risk!
