by bucky· November 04, 2013· in Comics 'N Coffee· 0 comments tags: DC Comics, Jerry Grandentti, Joe Simon, Prez: First Teen President
The Prez will tune up all your clocks – And Eagle Free he speaks to hawks – He’ll reach the White House as a teen – Maybe outlaw you with a gun – Force their peace and love on you, son – So you better stock up on that caffeine! “Despite my misgivings about the constitutionality of this one provision, I have signed the bill. I have directed the Attorney General to cooperate fully in expediting a swift court test of the constitutionality of the 18-year-old provision.” And with the stroke of his pen, the executive authority of President Richard Nixon effectively lowered the voting age for all citizens in federal elections to 18 (also for state and local elections, but this was soon refuted in part by the Supreme Court).

Review: Man of Steel

There will be spoilers, so you’ve been warned. I’ve the majority of the day to think about this film and what I thought about it. Before we get into that, I want to say that this isn’t so much as a review as to what I liked and didn’t like about the film. I’m not a profession critic but I consider myself a student of film and discussing films and looking at them from different angles and taking them apart is something I enjoy doing, but I can’t do that without giving reference to you about my feelings on the director and the character of Superman.

Pick of the Week: December 7th 2011 – Huntress #3

by bucky· December 14, 2012· in Pick of the Week, Podcast, Reviews· 0 comments tags: DC Comics, Huntress, Marcus To, Paul Levitz
Hello Comic Impact! Have I mentioned that I love your smile? I do. Anyway, we’re back for another episode of the “Pick of the Week” podcast. Sheldon still does not know which episode we are on. Simon loves himself some Planet of the Apes. And me? Well, I (Susan) had the pick. While the boys did not agree, I went with Huntress #3. I convinced them by telling them which women of the DC Universe I would date. Seemed to work just fine! Simon and I agree that Sheldon hates fun after refusing to fall in love with Reed Gunther #6. Sheldon just went on and on about Marvel books (big shock there). Basically, we actually used this podcast to talk about comics! Hooray! Take a listen. We are kind of amazing, as are the books we talk about.

Pick of the Week: November 16th 2011- Wonder Woman #3

by bucky· November 23, 2012· in Pick of the Week, Podcast, Reviews· 0 comments tags: Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang, DC Comics, Wonder Woman
Another week, another pick. This time the pick belongs to Susan! Trust us, she had a very hard time with it, because of all the awesome titles that came out this week. After a lot of thought, she decided on Wonder Woman by Brian Azzarello, who she has made her new writer’s crush. Susan did all the work while Sheldon sat around with Kermit the Frog (don’t ask), and Simon? Well, he seems to be the only one taking the podcast seriously. Don’t blame Susan, though. She’s sick. It’s Sheldon’s fault! Anyway, join the Comic Impact crew for Episode 236 of the Pick of the Week Podcast! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
