by bucky· March 28, 2012· in Pick of the Week, Podcast, Reviews· 0 comments tags: Batman, DC Comics, Greg Capullo, Scott Snyder
Notes?? Who needs notes?? Just go listen to the show! Fineeeee. Sheldon, Simon and Susan discuss the books for March 21, 2012! Sheldon had the pick, and he went with Batman #7! Yes, they are all in agreement that this book won the battle royale of books this week. Weird right… so it must be good! The gang also talks about Nightwing, Thunderbolts, John Carter Gods of Mars, Prophet, Wonder Woman, Heart, and what the hell happened with Justice League this week? I mean COOOOMMMMEEEE ON! Well ok. It did have some good parts, but that was only the Gary Frank, Shazam story in the back. All this, and so much more in an all action packed episode number two hundred and fifty six! Whew… you know what? Listen to the show. Thank us later.

Interview: Gabriel Bautista (WonderCon 2012)

by bucky· March 26, 2012· in Interviews, Video Interview· 0 comments tags: All Star Western, DC Comics, Elephantmen, Gabriel Bautista, Image Comics, The New 52
It was bound to happen sooner or later. ComicImpact has an interview with pretty-art-guy, Gabriel Bautista. Yes, he colors All-Star Western from DC Comics. Yes, he has drawn pictures for the awesome comic, Elephantmen. Yes, he has a new project in the works with Joshua Hale Fialkov. But, we barely talk about any of that. Mostly, we goof around and dance and lean. We learn what Mr. Bautista really looks at while he’s talking to Susan and how much Sheldon drinks. Either way, watch this unorthodox encounter with this awesome artist and friend to the site.

Interview: Scott Snyder (WonderCon 2012)

by bucky· March 21, 2012· in Interviews, Video Interview· 0 comments tags: Batman, DC Comics, Scott Snyder, The New 52
Not to brag, but I have met a lot of creators at a lot of conventions. I have to say that no one has had me more excited or more nervous than Scott Snyder. Sure, I make jokes about stalking him and voodoo magic, but Mr. Snyder is a horror writer and gets me. Maybe I’m projecting, but I don’t care. I reveled in the opportunity to talk with one of my favorite writers.Try not to notice the shades of red and pink I become as Scott Snyder and I talk everything from Severed to Batman. I have to say that Mr. Snyder was very nice to this crazy fan girl. Thank you again for chatting, Scott! Your works inspire me!

Horror on the 13th – February 2012 (vampire,Zombie andLove)

Happy Valentine’s Day! Well, the day before it anyway. It does seem like a good day for horror. I think that it has to do with the fact that if you’re single, then this is a shit holiday. If you’re in a couple, this is a stressful holiday. Either way, there’s a little bit of horror involved. Plus, Valentine’s Day has hearts and hearts pump blood. Scary stuff involved! Speaking of blood, this month I am featuring the most romantic of all the monsters (to the mainstream media): VAMPIRES! Personally, I think that any monster can be romanticized. In fact, most of them were born from the romantic era, but that’s a different article for a different time. I digress, vampires have come to symbolize forbidden love.

Interview: Adam Beechen (Batman Beyond) Vs J.T. Krul (Superman Beyond)

by bucky· February 06, 2012· in Interviews, Podcast· 0 comments tags: Adam Beechen, Batman Beyond, DC Comics, J.T. Krul, Superman Beyond
Sometimes, us comic book peeps get so obsessed with collecting our floppies that we forget that some of the best stuff is found digitally. We, at ComicImpact, have not forgotten this. In fact, we embrace it! We embrace it so much that we had two of the most awesome DC writers, Adam Beechen and J.T. Krul, talk to us about their new digital titles. It doesn’t stop there, we get them to talk about their sports fandom and fake rivalry between them. Though, they may have inadvertently started a Susan vs. Simon rivalry of their own! So, on a boring day of no-more-football-until-next-season, put in some headphones, slack off at work, and listen to the ComicImpact Versus Podcast!

Pick of the Week: January 25th 2012 – I,Vampire #5

by bucky· February 01, 2012· in Pick of the Week, Podcast, Reviews· 0 comments tags: Andrea Sorrentino, DC Comics, I Vampire, Joshua Hale Fialkov
It’s the week of January 25, 2012. Susan, Simon, and Sheldon get together again to talk comics and be awesome (well, Susan and Simon are). Sheldon gets into a grumpy mood, because he did not have the pick. Susan did! She went with I, Vampire #5 by Joshua Hale Fialkov. Susan likes vampires and strong female characters? Who knew! Simon talks of his love for creator owned books, as he gushes over Elephantmen and Bulletproof Coffin. Sheldon geeked out over the bromance in Secret Avengers, as he is familiar with the concept of hetero-man-love. Susan gets interrogated about the one book she doesn’t read, but possibly should. Listen. Enjoy. Read comics. Thanks again for taking time to deal with the madness that is ComicImpact’s POW! Pick of the Week podcast.

Pick of the Week: January 11th 2012 – Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E #5

by bucky· January 18, 2012· in Pick of the Week, Podcast, Reviews· 0 comments tags: Alberto Ponticelli, DC Comics, Frankenstein Agent of SHADE, Jeff Lemire
Simon had the pick for the week of January 11th 2012, and he picked Frankenstein Agent of SHADE #5 by Jeff Lemire and Alberto Ponticelli. But, when the ComicImpact team started talking about the rest of the books this week, the podcast was taken over by Brian Buccellato (you know the man behind Foster #1) last weeks pick of the week by Susan. The crew talks to Buccellato about everything from Susan’s obsession with werewolves and what 1980’s pop start Brian did a sketch of at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con. We also find out about Simon’s past a as hockey player, and Sheldon talks a bit of Trek with Buccellato. All this, and we answer the most important question in history: Michael Bolton or Kenny G?

Horror on the 13th: December 2011 (The New 52)

by bucky· December 13, 2011· in Horror on the 13th· 0 comments tags: Animal Man, DC Comics, IVampire, Jeff Lemire, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Scott Snyder, Swamp Thing, The New 52
And, we’re back! It’s written form again for Horror on the 13th! I can’t decide what I like better. Really, I just like mixing it up, because to me, talking about horror is talking about horror. In fact, I agree with that statement almost to a fault. I mean, I really do like and appreciate all horror, even the bad stuff. Horror taps into something very primal in all of us. It’s the fear of the unknown or the mysterious or the abnormal. Mostly, it’s trying to understand things that we, as humans, don’t understand or have no way of understanding. When it’s not that, it’s blood and guts and monsters! Personally, I think all those are the same, but that is always up for debate. Horror has debates! And theories! I love it.

Greeting guys and gals! Welcome to Week 3 of the “New 52” Podcast from Comic Impact.
