Horror on the 13th – February 2012 (vampire,Zombie andLove)

Happy Valentine’s Day! Well, the day before it anyway. It does seem like a good day for horror. I think that it has to do with the fact that if you’re single, then this is a shit holiday. If you’re in a couple, this is a stressful holiday. Either way, there’s a little bit of horror involved. Plus, Valentine’s Day has hearts and hearts pump blood. Scary stuff involved! Speaking of blood, this month I am featuring the most romantic of all the monsters (to the mainstream media): VAMPIRES! Personally, I think that any monster can be romanticized. In fact, most of them were born from the romantic era, but that’s a different article for a different time. I digress, vampires have come to symbolize forbidden love.

Did You Catch All That? – January 2012

by Susan Damon· January 31, 2012· in Did You Catch All That?· 0 comments tags: 30 Days of Night, Andrea Sorrentino, anthony diecidue, Batman, Brian Michael Bendis, daniel corey, Detective Comics, I, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Justice League Dark, Moon Knight, moriarty, omac, Peter Milligan, rob liefeld, Scott Snyder, Severed, Steve Niles, superman beyong, Tony S. Daniels, Vampire, Walt Simonson
Welcome to the first Did You Catch All That? of 2012! Susan thought she was rid of the boys in the new year, but she was sorely mistaken. Not only are Simon and Sheldon back, but she was joined by Matt Todd of “The Impact” and a very special guest (watch the video to see who it is). The best of the segments is back, including Susan dashing back and forth to bring you her favorite “Girl on Girls”. Simon’s tattoo may or may not make an appearance in Elephantmen 0, but he does talk about it in “On Shelves Now”. Sheldon is upset when he can’t talk about his issues and decides to play on his phone. I think I may have mentioned that we have a special guest! Ok, ok… I’ll give you a hint. He was recently on our POW! Pick of the Week Podcast, so he’s been hanging around quite a bit lately (and I know I hope he sticks around for a while). Take your guesses, but in the meantime, take a gander at the January 2012 episode of Did You Catch All That?.

Sequential Sunday: Long Beach Comic Con 2011 Roundup

The Halloween weekend saw the appearance of the third annual Long Beach Comic Con (or as it is now known the “Long Beach Comic and Horror Con”), and I am extremely happy to report that it was the best year yet. What clearly sets the LBCC shows apart from its Southern California con counterparts is an actual emphasis on comics themselves, the writers and artists who produce them, and the greater illustrative art world that exists comfortably alongside the sequential medium itself.

Horror on the 13th – October 2011 (Steve Niles)

by bucky· October 13, 2011· in Horror on the 13th, Interviews· 0 comments tags: Steve Niles
Welcome to Horror House! Actually, it’s just a video version of “Horror of the 13th” with your favorite horror girl, Susan! If you like horror comics, horror movies, or just really scary people, you’re going to really like watching Susan and Steve Niles talk about all that stuff! Oh, and the scary people, it’s just us, because it’s a little scary how much we love our monsters. Also, pay attention, because you need to know some stuff about Mr. Niles in order to answer our Comic Impact Halloween Costume Contest trivia question. Susan asks it in this very stylized, very terrifying video. Turn out the lights and build a blanket fort to properly enjoy this video version of “Horror on the 13th”!

Horror on the 13th: March 2011

by bucky· March 13, 2011· in Horror on the 13th· 0 comments tags: 30 Days of Night, American Vampire, Ben Templesmith, Echoes, IDW Publishing, Image Comics, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Scott Snyder, Steve Niles, Vertigo
Horror – the genre has been around since the movie industry started, because who doesn’t love a good scare, right? Guess what. There are also horror comics, and they have been around a long time, too. The problem with horror comics is the exact same problem that horror movies have. There are so many of them made all the time, and there is no way to tell whether or not they are going to be awesome or terrible. That is where I come in.
