Review: Uncanny X-Men #31

by bucky· February 23, 2015· in Reviews· 0 comments tags: Brian Michael Bendis, Kris Anka, Marvel, Marvel Comics, Uncanny X-Men, X-Men
Uncanny X-Men #31 the culmination of “The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier,” Original Sin, and AXIS. The arc as a whole has been entertaining enough, but the highlights for me were the smaller character moments. One of my favorite new mutants since Marvel kicked off its All-New imprints has been Eva Bell, and issue #31 does a great job putting her front and center.

Comics ‘n Coffee: What If ? #6

ANOTHER APOCALYPTIC ANNIHILATION? ARMAGEDDON TOO OLD FOR THIS! (or If Your Can’t Stand the Heat, The Phoenix is Gonna Burn You Anyway) Some comic book events are abysmal duds, while others are revered by fans for all time. The names Crisis on Infinite Earths, The Kree-Skrull War, Secret Wars and Avengers Disassembled evoke strong memories and feelings, while Atlantis Attacks, House of M and Chaos War generally engender groans and eye-rolls. Some of the greatest events and cross-overs have come from Xavier’s mutants and their associated spin-offs, including Fall of the Mutants and the recent Avengers vs. X-men story.

Pick of the Week:May 11th 2011 X-Men #11

by bucky· May 18, 2011· in Pick of the Week, Podcast, Reviews· 0 comments tags: Al Barrionuevo, Marvel, Marvel Comics, Victor Gischler, X-Men
Wednesday, the best day of the week! New comics and a brand new Pick of the Week podcast to go along with ’em! Does it get any better than this? I say, no way! And this is one POW you are not going to want to miss my friend. Not that you would ever want to miss one of these gems. This one’s got everything! It’s got comics, talking, and talking about comics! This week Ken had the pick and he decided to go with X-Men #11. Sure it has a terrible cover, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts. And what’s inside is a pretty damn good story starring Professor Xavier, himself. Simon, Ian, and Ken also discuss: FF #3, New Mutants #25, Chew #27 (hey what happened to issues 19 through 24?), Flash #12, Flashpoint #1, Elephantmen #31, Amazing Spider-Man #660, and New Avengers #12! That’s what I call one kick-ass podcast!

Sequential Sunday: X-Women

by John Mueller· August 02, 2010· in Sequential Sunday· 0 comments tags: Chris Claremont, Marvel, Milo Manara, X-Men, X-Women
To see the name of Italian sequential art master Milo Manara attached to a graphic novel is an absolute guarantee that within the pages of said book you will find one thing: beautiful women. Of course, these women are more than beautiful. They are also strong, confident, and very often fully aware of their own sexuality and the heights of ecstasy it can take them to.
